Kia Orana
Welcome to Api'i Te Uki Ou

Turou, Oromai

A warm welcome to Api'i Te Uki Ou!

Api'i Te Uki Ou is located right on the beautiful beachfront of Ngatangiia here in Rarotonga Cook Islands. Our api'i (school) is a lively, close-knit family of between 240 to 250 learners from preschool all the way up to Year 9. Guided by our inspiring vision, "Akara ki mua" (Learning for tomorrow), we have created a vibrant and inclusive space where every child is supported, valued and encouraged to grow. We are a diverse community where quality learning, rich culture and lifelong friendships come together.

Inclusive Education

Inclusive Education at Api'i Te Uki Ou means every child matters. It sits at the heart of who we are, guiding how we see, understand and support every learner who walks through our doors. This foundational philosophy serves as the primary reason we are registered as a special character school.

We provide an educational service where diversity is celebrated. We recognise that every child is unique. Rather than expecting children to fit into a mold, we take the time to understand each individual - discovering where they are, what they need and how we can best guide them toward success.

To bring this Special Character to life, we intentionally structure our school, our classrooms and our resources to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.

Life at Api'i Te Uki Ou

Life at Api'i Te Uki Ou is about more than what happens in the classroom. Our tamariki have opportunities to learn, explore, create, lead and discover their strengths.

Through Culture & Te Reo, Sports, Technology, Student Leadership and EOTC, we encourage our learners to build confidence, stay connected to their culture and community, and enjoy learning in different ways.

Learning happens everywhere at Api'i Te Uki Ou.

Celebrating our School Legacy

For more than 30 years, generations of learners, parents, families and staff have helped along Api'i Te Uki Ou's journey.

We’re getting ready to reconnect, remember, share our stories and celebrate our history - inspiring where we go next.

We are working on introducing a Api'i Te Uki Ou Alumni in October 2026.
