Apii Te Uki Ou first opened as a preschool in 1993 then continued into a primary school in 1995. It was set up as an independent school, offering quality preschool and primary school education along similar lines to New Zealand.
Apii Te Uki Ou Pre-School started in 1993 and originated in Lauren Parkinson’s garage in Arorangi/ Betela.
Pre-School was built before Primary. It was created by a small group of dedicated parents who believed that more could be achieved in education than what was available at the time, and sharing a vision of creating a school environment where every child had the opportunity to develop and grow to the very best of their ability - academically, socially and physically.
Mrs. Kathy Nooroa, the founder of Apii Te Uki Ou Primary School believed in giving everyone a fair chance and so do I.
The students with additional needs were perfectly capable of being in a normal classroom and would do as well as everybody else with assistance.
Over the 30 years, Apii Te Uki Ou has grown from strength to strength while keeping our core vision and mission at the forefront of what we do.
